The Farmer Plants the Seeds
(Sing to tune of “The Farmer in the Dell”)
The farmer plants the seeds,
(Stoop and pretend to plant seeds in rows)
The farmer plants the seeds,
First the farmer plows the ground
(Pretend to guide a plow)
And then he plants the seeds.
(Stoop and pretend to plant seeds in rows)
The sun comes out to shine,
(Raise arms over head in a circle with hands spread like the sun)
The sun comes out to shine,
When the sky is very blue,
The sun comes out to shine.
The rain begins to fall,
(Wiggle hands in air simulating rain coming down,
fluttering hands up and down)
The rain begins to fall,
When the clouds are in the sky,
The rain begins to fall.
The seeds begin to grow,
(Squat down and rise, using arms and hands
to show plants growing up from the soil.)
The seeds begin to grow,
From deep within our Mother Earth,
The seeds begin to grow.
The harvest time has come,
(Move arms to show the cutting of the grain
and picking of crops)
The harvest time has come,
When the farmer gathers the plants,
The harvest time has come.
We can have some food,
(Pretend to eat.)
We can have some food,
When the grain is made into bread,
Then we can have some food.
