A Whole Child Approach
Oak Meadow uniquely combines a deep understanding of the developing child grounded in strong academic standards. We seek to address not only the blossoming intellect but also the heart, hands, and spirit of young children by providing lessons that meet the child in a developmentally appropriate and holistic manner. In conjunction with language arts, mathematics, social studies and science, the Oak Meadow child will immerse themselves creative arts, music and movement. We hope to help your child unlock their individual potential and inspire them not only to learn, but to thrive.
A Developmentally Appropriate Approach
Young children learn by doing. With this in mind, Oak Meadow’s lessons in the early years place a great emphasis on experiential learning with activities that will motivate the student through action and imagination.
We fully engage the grade school student by encouraging learning through the use of stories that unite fact with rich description and colorful detail. In this way, children invest emotionally as well as intellectually with subject matter allowing for a more stimulating and absorbing experience.
The later years require even greater intellectual challenges as children learn to discern and dissimulate information and eventually decide for themselves what resonates as truth.
Throughout the years Oak Meadow builds on acquired skills and brings subject matter that is both interesting and age appropriate.
An approach that addresses state standards
Oak Meadow understands that parents come with various goals for their child’s academic “next step”. With this in mind, we have tirelessly studied state standards nationwide and have effectively developed a curriculum that is in line with tough standards while still maintaining our commitment to a creative, innovative, and child centered education.
An approach that accommodates various learning styles
Oak Meadow honors the unique inner capabilities of each and every child. No child is alike. They learn in many different ways. Our lessons are designed to encourage your child’s personal learning style by bringing the body back into learning, harnessing the imagination and challenging the mind. Additionally, we specifically discuss various learning styles and offer recommendations and resources for successfully meeting them in our guides to home education.
