German

I am excited to be part of Oak Meadow particularly because of the school's philosophies of education and development. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist and enjoy working with adolescents and their families. Teaching at Virginia Tech and working as a therapist has made it clear to me that all students learn differently and require varying amounts of structure and support. It is my goal to create a learning environment that encourages personal growth as well as proficiency and interest in the German language and culture.

After graduating high school I studied abroad in Switzerland for a year. I lived in a small town near Zurich. During this year I gained a fuller appreciation of the German language and Swiss culture. When I arrived back in the States I began studying German at Anderson University, in Anderson, Indiana. I spent my junior year of college studying in Constance, Germany, a beautiful city on the Lake of Constance and the Rhine River. After studying in Germany, I returned to Anderson University to complete my studies and earn a B.A. in German. Shortly after graduating, my wife, Laura, and I moved to Boone, North Carolina, where I earned a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University. Currently I live in Blacksburg, Virginia; I am a doctoral student studying Marriage and Family Therapy, and I also teach German and Human Development courses for Virginia Tech.

In my free time I enjoy hanging out with Laura, playing disc-golf, hiking, camping, cooking, being on the beach, playing basketball and traveling and snowboarding as often as possible.
