Algebra I
I live on a ranch in Virginia and have homeschooled my three children. For the last 11 years I have been an Oak Meadow Math Teacher (Pre Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra II, Math 8, KCP Algebra, KCP Math, KCP Geometry). For many years I have also worked with youth as a coach (boys baseball and basketball, girls softball and basketball), and as a boy scout leader and youth church leader.
As an Oak Meadow math and algebra teacher, I see my role as one of encourager, director, and re-director. I attempt to help students see the practical side of math and de-drugerize the subject for those that don’t naturally take to it. I try to instill in students the importance of being disciplined and scheduled in their approach to math work and re-ward good effort and persistence. I strongly encourage students to show their work and give partial credit for problems that are approached correctly, even if the final answer is incorrect. I have great admiration and respect for Oak Meadow students and parents and the values and principles they represent... commitment, initiative, love, independence.
